Many parts of the world, including New York City, are trending toward ditching gas and oil-based appliances and heating equipment in favor of electric. States such as New York have already passed bans and phase-outs of fossil fuel-based equipment in new residential buildings. While gas and oil are currently cheaper than electricity in most states, there are many government programs offering cash rebates, tax incentives, and utilities savings for switching to electric heating sources and appliances. Additionally, the US government is investing heavily in electricity infrastructure, which will lead to lower electricity prices over time. Finally, electricity is a much cleaner energy source than gas and oil, thus reducing your carbon footprint.
